Unknown Pleasures.
A personal typography project loosely inspired by the album artwork for the titular 1979 Joy Division record Unknown Pleasures. I’ve always loved the artwork for this record (as well as the actual music of course) so after giving album it’s one millionth listen I decided to try and experiment with typographical forms based on that vectoresque landscapes from the cover artwork - the original image is actually a “stacked plot” of the radio emissions given out by a pulsar, a rotating neutron star apparently (very cool).
I really liked how the experiment turned out and ended up doing a limited edition poster run which proved popular. I may revisit this idea of doing album inspired typographical experiments again in the future, as it was a lot of fun. It’s also nice to have an associated soundtrack with each creation :)
